Beautiful Geometric Sculptures Cast From Burls Fused to Resin

Scott Huebner is an incredible artist and woodworker that draws his inspiration from the mountains.

Huebner went to college for Raku pottery however in 2008 he switched mediums from clay to wood and now experiments with burls and resin to create breathtaking sculptures that he sells through his online store.

A burl is a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. It is commonly found in the form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch that is filled with small knots from dormant buds.

On his website Scott explains:

Each burl is selected for its resemblance of a mountain range. This is the start to the art and design of each piece. The burls vary from North American to Australian and Amazonian. They are then casted in a mold with acrylic resin. The casted piece then goes on the wood lathe for the turning process. Followed by a three stage polishing process. Each piece is unique and one of a kind.

The inspiration for each piece comes from the beauty of the mountains and forest. Through the years I have lived in Lake Tahoe, Alaska and returned back to Colorado. Always surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, I have tried to encapsulate the mountains, to bring that to your home.
